VEAP's Mission:
Neighbors serving neighbors in need.
Improving the lives of people in the community . We strive to provide financial, emotional and physical support to low-income individuals and families living in our community. VEAP's programs are designed to meet both the present and projected needs of low-income, elderly and disabled citizens. We respond to the needs of hunger, poverty, disability, isolation and the ongoing effects of these conditions through our programs: Food, Seasonal, (Back To School, Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas) Social Services and Transportation. VEAP fulfills its mission through donations of money, goods and volunteer services coordinated by a professional staff, which creates a neighbor serving neighbor program and strengthens the community as a whole. Each year over 1000 volunteers with support from Businesses, Faith Communities, Foundations, Government, Individuals, Organizations and Schools work together improving the lives of people in our community.
History VEAP is a grassroots agency that was founded in 1973 by thirteen churches in Richfield. VEAP was founded for the purpose of neighbors coming together to help other neighbors experiencing hardships in their community. Geographic Area VEAP serves residents in the communities of Bloomington, Edina, Richfield and a small portion of Minneapolis (south of 50th Street and west of Cedar Avenue). Admission of clients to programs is based on residency, need of service and lack of resources.
