Birthday Bags

The birthday bag project was started by a pair of twelve year-old twins who spent their babysitting money to ensure that kids could have a happy birthday. The bags are distributed to the children of VEAP food shelf clients, age 12 and under. Birthday bags may be contained in anything from a decorated brown paper bag to a gift box. Some groups make several basic bags and others make deluxe bags created around a theme for a specific age group, intended for a boy or a girl or either.
